Do you have the knowledge, experience and, yes, patience to help develop a global standard for [minimal] candidate experience during the recruiting process - a standard that would need to be agreed upon by 2/3 of the 25 countries in the world that think such a standard is important?
Do you want to?
It will take 2 years.
(Full disclosure. What comes next could be boring so don’t feel you have to continue reading but, if you do get to the end, you may have the persistence needed to play in this ballpark.)
Wiki defines the ISO this way:
“The ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, is an independent, non-governmental organization, the members of which are the standards organizations of its 163 member countries.
It is the world's largest developer of voluntary international standards and facilitates world trade by providing common standards between nations.
Over twenty thousand standards have been set covering everything from manufactured products and technology to food safety, agriculture and healthcare.”
Companies that do not comply with ISO standards because they are seen to impact a company’s risk/safety or performance find that insurance firms raise their rates. Countries consult ISO standards when developing policies, compliance regulations, etc. Companies that comply with ISO standards, like good manufacturing practices, tend to perform better, win more contracts, etc. etc.
Little known is that the ISO has in recent years begun supporting the development of standards for Management Practices, Human Resources and, wait for it, Talent Acquisition. There are about 40 organizations in the US active in ISO TC260, the Technical Committee involved in this category of standards development. Another 24 countries have similar groups working with TC 260. WG5 or Work Group 5 focuses on TA related standard s- the first of which, a definition of Recruiting, was published last year. It's still too early to know if the way companies are lead- how they find and treat their employees will have as much of an impact as other standards but, we think its worth the effort.
On June 22 the ISO TC260 approved the development of a global standard for candidate experience. It was assigned to WG5. An initial web meeting will be held in August. I’m looking for experts whose organizations might be interested in participating in TC260 or, experts where current organizations who are already members might be willing to sponsor you. I won’t promise anything until we chat but, I will chat with all those interested. Not for everyone.
Look forward to hearing from you.
