Network (Search "jobs"), an internet network of job sites (Boxwood
Technology) for industry-specific professional and trade assoc.,
publications and educational institutions. Recruiters pay $150 for one
posting or $500 per month for unlimited postings. Job seekers who apply to
individual positions are also asked if they want their resume to be public
or kept confidential. Job seeker is advised that it is their responsibility
to remove personal info. The association's membership is public something
we'll never understand. There is no way to determine how many jobs are
really posted on this site. One valuable asset is their annual listing of
more than 1500 college internships. This publication is sent to each
student chapter and provided via mail for $10 to others. Links to
additional internships are provided.
American Assoc. of Critical-Care Nurses
http://www.aacn.org
American Assoc. of Critical-Care Nurses launched AACN Career

post their openings online for $200 for 60 days (over the cost of their
journal's print ad). Positions are listed here by title then easily scanned
by location, posting date, full time, part time or contract. The
association publishes several journals and offers print and online options.
Job seekers who are members of this association have access to the freshest
job openings ahead of the general public. Recruiters can place ads through

American College of Healthcare Executives

great services. This organization has no idea about the value of their
database. All resumes are easily accessible...and free. Excellent design
allows recruiters to view a summary and drill for details. Jobs can be
accessed by members and are free for recruiters to post. A message board
with an "ask the expert" feature is an added value. On our visit the topic
was: "strategies for recruiting and retaining your nursing staff". If you
are an executive seeking employment or an organization seeking talent in
this field, this site is a no-brainer.
American Culinary Federation

maintains openings in research and teaching in the sciences. Members can
post positions for fee while outsiders pay $350. Jobs are broken down into
BA/BS level (long term positions), professional (MS level), Ph.D., student
and temporary opportunities. We especially liked the opportunity for
"Gillnet Observers" to spend 1-15 days living aboard a commercial vessel
collecting data on sea turtles, pelagic fish and sea birds. All jobs are
dated for freshness although some were mighty salty.
American Institute of CPA's
http://www.aicpa.org/
Confusion reigned when we found that the American Institute of CPAs
and it's state society partners were competing with themselves. The AICPA
site serves a 330,000-member association...and anyone else who wants to
look. New ads that appear in The Journal of Accountancy, the monthly
publication of the AICPA, are searchable here by job title. Recruiters pay
$80 to post a job for 4 weeks. It is amazing to us that more jobs are not
posted on this site. Then we discovered CPA2Biz Career Center
(http://www.cpa2biz.com) where recruiters can post a position for $200 for
a 30-day run and a resume database that can be accessed for $1,500.
Recruiters are automatically sent new resumes that match their positions as

sites appear to represent the same organization. Go figure.

finding the correct pages.

directory which lists contact information via this site.
American Speech-Language-Hearing Assoc.
http://professional.asha.org
American Speech-Language-Hearing Assoc. (ASHA) doesn't shout about its
services but does provides good value for audiologists and other hearing
related professionals. Recruiters pay $330 to post a position for 30 days.

seekers can apply online or send their resume direct. Site has a resume
database that we believe is included in the price (once a job is posted).
Some of the openings are only available for AFP members. We wouldn't want
to contribute to that last idea.

daVinci Times
http://www.davincitimes.org
daVinciTimes was designed as a collaboration of upstate New York
businesses (with primarily engineering/IT jobs) who felt that working
together to draw more technical talent to the area was a constructive
alternative to simply competing for scarce resources. Now with 58
corporate members, this model started in January 1998 proves corporations
can collaborate to recruit talent. Job seekers can search by keyword, job
categories, education or salary to find their job of choice. All jobs are
date posted. We have always appreciated the story line of the site and the
creative toys, tools and resources it has developed to engage visiting
engineers. A "resume wizard" offers step-by-step formatting for a "perfect"
profile. Visitors can peruse real estate, obtain spousal job hunting
assistance and check out commute time calculators. Member corporations can
join for $1,000 to post 10 openings and view the resume database for
$250/month, a 6 month min. Features soon to come are pre-employment
questions. DaVinci times is always trying new ideas and willing to listen
to recommendations. They've worked hard to build a community model.

category, education, years of experience, expertise, location, percent
travel or, salary (whew!). IEEE is becoming a "members only" site- only
members can apply to jobs online (very few of the openings have direct
contact information). IEEE has partnered with hire.com to host their site

etc. Owners claim over 1,200,000 registered candidates and resume profiles
can be viewed for free but contact data is for a fee. We spoke to
representatives in the UK and were advised the site is slowly blending
monster features with those f Jobline. Recruiters need to register to gain
access. Each individual country site is in the native language.
Corporations from all over the world have posted jobs here. Well designed
and easy to navigate. If pricing were easily available this site could be a
model for others to follow. The site also appears to gently push staffing
pros in the direction of headhunters- perhaps also part of TMP, Mopnster's
owner. This is the major player.

http://www.nsbe.org
The National Society of Black Engineers has over 10,000 members and
270 chapters on college and university campuses. NSBE also has 75 alumni
chapters nationwide and 75 pre-college chapters. Site offers their
classified print advertisements online. The job section is titled the WOO
Zone - "Windows of Opportunity". The objective is to reach out to African
American engineering students and professionals for co-op, internship or
regular positions. Recruiters pay $100 to post a position online for one
month. Recruiters pay $795 per quarter to have NSBE search the resume
database for one opening. For $1,995 recruiters can do their own resume
searches for 3 months. Site is hosted by brassring. Job seekers need not
worry about the "login" request as everyone can see and respond to openings.
Nat'l. Society of Professional Engineering
http://www.nspe.org
National Society of Professional Engineers has 60,000 members with 500
chapters including every state and some territories. NSPE accepts
positions for certified professional engineers in many disciplines.
Recruiters pay $50 to post a job for a 30-day run. Job listings can be
searched by category, region or state and the number of jobs (and resumes)
posted in each category is displayed. Recruiters can view resumes for free.
Positions are posted with lengthy job descriptions and contact information.
Search results show the date the posting expires but not the date that the
job was posted (similar to many European sites).
NCAA Jobs in College Athletics
http://www.ncaa.org
If it is time to get out of the rat race and walk the sidelines at a
college football game then you have come to the right place. The NCAA
(1,200 institutions with 600 members) posts Jobs in College Athletics. Site
only has a handful of openings currently. Recruiters pay $.75 cents per
word with a 50 word minimum to post an opening for 7 days. Job seekers pay
the same for posting their resume. A map of the USA can be searched first
for region and then for a job category. All job categories have the number
of postings next to each category. Administrators, coaches, internships, it
is all here. Site has an affiliation with the National Federation of State
High School Associations that post high school openings
(ncaa.thetask.com/nfhs/market/ads).
New England Journal of Medicine
http://www.nejm.org/
The New England Journal of Medicine reaches 200,000 physicians per
week through its print publication. Their classified print ads are placed
on this web site through "CareerLinks". The site's search engine displayed
925 positions from the last two issues. Job seekers search by specialty,
region or "other" classification. Job seekers are advised about the niumber
of positions in each specialty and region. All direct contact information
is available. Job seekers who register can receive new openings via email.
Recruiters pay $4.95 per word. Brief and to the point.
NY New Media Assoc. The Silicon Alley Job Board
http://www.nynma.org
NY New Media Assoc. - The Silicon Alley Job Board is a not-for-profit
association founded in 1994 that has 8,500 members in 4,500 companies.
Beginning in mid-2001, only member companies are able to post openings or

Positions can be viewed by categories such as: administrative, business
development, education, executive, information architecture, interactive
design, internships, production engineer., management, research, sales
visual design, and writer/editor. Openings can be keyword searched. Jobs
are posted with direct contact information. Jobs must be based in the New
York tri-state area. Great service.
Opportunity Nocs
http://www.opportunitynocs.org/index.html
Opportunity Nocs was launched in 1998 and has an online newsletter
that mirrors its print cousin. The print edition claims a "readership" of
150,000. Non-profit organizations that post positions to the website for
$80 for a 30-day run. Jobs can be viewed by keyword, organization type,
position, city, state, country or job freshness. There were 828 jobs posted
on our visit and all are date posted. A long list of helpful career and
job links is also available under the resdources link.
optics.org
http://optics.org/employment
The Society of Photo-optical Instrument Engineers supports Optics.ORG
and Fibers.ORG and both offer members resume registration. Access to the
resumes (about 60) by employers is free. Recruiters can post jobs for $500
for a four-week run and the site does notify people who have signed up for
a "job alert". Resumes and job listings are date posted. We only found 3
job listings on our last visit. Proves you can have the right product but
you still have to advertise it.
Philanthropy Journal Online
http://pnnonline.org/jobs
The Philanthropy Journal Online hosts information and jobs for
non-profit organizations. A free job alert newsletter is e-mailed to anyone
that registers. Job seekers can search the USA by clicking on their region
of choice from a detailed map. Jobs can be searched by clicking
"development", "executive" or "other". Recruiters pay a $25 set-up fee in
addition to the print "ad rate" to post their position online and resumes
can be viewed for free. Jobs can be emailed to members via the sites
electronic newsletter for $120 per insertion. There is a $25 handling fee
to post a resume on the Philanthropy News Network.
Physics Today Online
http://www.aip.org/pt
The American Institute of Physics reaches 120,000 physicists and
engineers worldwide. Unfortunately AIP can be confusing- they accept job
postings in two places for the same site. The cost of posting a job online
on "Career Services" is $18.00 per line. The cost to place an ad with
"Physics Today" is $30.00 per line. Job seekers search by keyword, or job
category (industry and optics, academic, computing, government/FFRD/other).
There were 303 positions listed on our visit. Members can also take part in
career workshops that are held across the US.
PR Soc. of America
http://www.prsa.org
The Public Relations Society of America has 116 chapters, 17,000 +
members and offers a careers section for individuals interested in the
profession. Recruiters can post positions for $155 for the first 5 lines
(each additional line is $20). Jobs are posted each Friday and are live for
1 month. Resumes can be viewed for free but are in no particular order.
Members of PRSA can post their resume for 1 month for free. Non-members pay
$40. Job seekers view a map of the US to select location. All openings are
date posted with contact information provided as well. A contact list for
local chapters is available on the site and should be checked as many
chapters run their own job board.
Reserve Officers Association
http://www.roa.org
The Reserve Officers Association's (ROA) Career Center offers
web-based job capabilities for assisting military personnel in transition.
Jobs are posted at TAO Online - Transition Assistance Online. With almost
80,000 members, ROA has a constituency that is underrepresented.
Disciplines as far ranging as advanced communications technology, personnel
administration, and project supervision can be found. Once a recruiter
posts a job they are given access to the resume database. A company looking
for applicants with a military background to fill defense-related
requirements would be remiss if they didn't check out one or more of the
many military transition sites available on the web.
Sci Jobs.org
http://www.scijobs.org
SciJobs.org targets scientists with considerable skill. Jobs can be
posted for $2 per day. Site would rather link to corporate site's job pages
then have recruiters post jobs. Owners advise that they go out to corporate
sites and pull down research job links to this site each week. Recruiters
can access the site's resume bank for $25 a week. Access is only given to
employers (no headhunters). Recruiters may want to think about becoming a
preferred employer to get their postings better "position". Jobs can be
emailed to registered subscribers (10,000 +) who have requested the
information. Recruiters pay $150 per e-alert. Openings are for post docs,
bioinformatics/LIMS, scientific writers, professor/lecturers. Job seekers
can search jobs using the site's engine or select "employers of choice" and
hyperlink to the company employment page.
Science Careers
http://www.sciencecareers.org
Science Careers, launched 1996, is an important benefit for members of
the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Employers
posting jobs in conjunction with print "line-ads" pay $50 for four weeks
(display ads are $150 for four weeks). "Career Links" include advertisers
who have purchased banners to their job sites. Science typically sponsors 4
career fairs a year to attract pharmaceutical and biotechnology talent for
their advertisers. Access to the resume database costs $3,000 to view the
9,000 + resumes. Close to 17,000 scientists receive job alerts via email
and recruiters can target specific segments of this group for $550 or spend
$2,000 to send a posting to all. Job seekers can view jobs by various
disciplines and each has the # of openings displayed. The site's search
engine requires a little too matching for our tastes but it works. Keep it
simple.. Employers wanting to target the scientific community need to
review all that they can do here.
Smart Dog
http://www.smartdog.org
SmartDog points to jobs in Rochester NY. Over 1,700 companies make
SmartDog their home for displaying high tech jobs in upstate NY (check out
the video). SmartDog is a collaborative partnership between local companies
with high tech interests who have banded together to put Rochester's best
foot forward. Job seekers must register to view openings. Selections take
the job seeker to brief position descriptions where they can obtain
additional information and apply on-line or via e-mail. Corporate
membership starts at $1,000 per year and is based on the number of
employees. Job seekers who register will have jobs e-mailed to them.
Email:smartdog@democratandchronicle.com. Check out the site map that helps
job seekers find what they need and rounds out a great effort. "Woof"!
Soc. for Human Resource Management
http://www.shrm.org
SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) has a sleek new look and
continues to lead the pack as a model for association sites on the web (OK,
we are biased). Still, the awards they've received, the results they
achieve and their Help Wanted contribution to SHRM's bottom line supports
our opinion. Job listings that will eventually see print in the monthly
tabloid HRNews are posted immediately to the Net (few other print
publications have yet to understand that sense of urgency). Positions can
be viewed throughout the US by location, title, and date of posting or
keyword search. A handful of international openings were also listed. Total
openings by state can also be found. Cost to post a job is $20 per line or
$30 with the print. You do not have to be a member to view the job
postings. However, only members can register to receive notification of new
positions via e-mail. Members have access to the membership directory- a
great recruiting tool. With over 160,000 members and visibility to
non-members, this is the 1st place to post a HR opening.
Southern California EDI Roundtable
http://www.scedir.org
Southern California EDI Roundtable also known as the e-Business Forum
is an industry group to promote EDI information. Employers can post
opportunities for $100 for a 3 month run. Only corporations from Southern
California can become members or individuals interested in EDI development
in this region. Membership is $25. The member directory is not an open
document.
Strategic Account Mgmt. Association
http://www.strategicaccounts.org
Strategic Account Mgmt. Association (SAMA) has over 2,000 members and
was founded in 1964. Site allows employers to post openings for free for an
8-week run. Openings are for all levels of sales openings.
Volunteer Match
http://www.volunteermatch.org
VolunteerMatch brings volunteers together with non-profit
organizations. If it is time to give something back, sign up online and
check out the suggested assignments in cities throughout the USA.
Volunteers only need to place their zip code and the site does the rest.
Opportunities are displayed by date of posting with codes that reflect if
they are for: K - kids, T - teens, S - seniors, G- groups. There are over
16,000 organizations listed with over 30,000 opportunities. Site also has
an email newsletter to keep you up-to-date on this organization.
Entrepreneural owners of the site make their $$$ by licensing a private
version with their database of volunteer opportunities to large
corporatons. Amazing.
