Discussion Topics

Our last meeting of the year is devoted to the niche topic of Executive Level Recruiting. Specific discussion topics as voted on by members are:

• Making it Real: What does the ideal exec search under the guidance of an internal staffing leader look like?
• Sourcing and Competitive Intelligence at the Exec Level: Is it proactive or as reactive as the rest of the requisition-driven models?
• Leadership Level Tools, Tactics and Magic Tricks: Show and tell which ones give you the most return.
• Changing Selection and Assessment Criteria: Have you incorporated new go/no-go questions, background criteria, etc. as a result of the financial, ethical and other challenges that have arisen in the last few years?
• Defining "Executive": Leadership level positions are filled using a different set of processes than any other. Where does that start...and stop within your firm?

As is our practice at CareerXroads Colloquium events we also ask all attendees to bring “what keeps them up at night” in their recruiting organizations so we can help each other solve those issues. After all, it's the caliber of our group that makes each session unique and provides that Aha! moment you'll take back to your office.

All meetings to be held at Yahoo's headquarters in Sunnyvale: 700 First Avenue, Bldg E, Classrooms 9/10.
Dress for Colloquium sessions is business casual.

October 12 – Monday 

6:00 PM Meet in the hotel's restaurant Faz for dinner. This is a great chance to meet and greet fellow members before the meeting starts.

October 13 – Tuesday

• 7:45AM Meet in hotel lobby for shuttle to Yahoo.
• 8:00 AM Breakfast and Introductions.
• 8:30-4:30 Meeting Session.
• 6:00PM Meet in hotel lobby for shuttle to dinner at Left Bank on Santana Row.

October 14 - Wednesday 

• 7:45AM Meet in hotel lobby for shuttle to Yahoo.
• 8:00-2:00 PM Meeting session, continental breakfast will be served. Some of our most thought-provoking, insightful discussions happen towards the end of the meeting session. In an effort to have full participation it is important that everyone stay until the meeting adjourns. Thank you.

For those of you already registered, please do your best to notify us 10 days in advance of the event if you find yourself unable to attend. And remember, the quality of the meeting is directly related to the number of members active in our discussions - we appreciate you finding a replacement from your firm if you are unable to attend.

Our room block will be held until September 22 so please book as soon as possible by calling 408-745-6000.

Transportation

For those using the San Jose airport there is a hotel courtesy shuttle available from 7am-10pm. Call the hotel with your flight arrival time and they'll book the time in advance for less wait time.
There is another shuttle service available from all area airports: San Jose (6 miles from hotel), San Francisco (25 miles from hotel) and Oakland (34 miles from hotel). Call 408-263-1583 or visit Lone Star Transportation's website for shuttle times and rates. Estimated taxi rates to the hotel are $35-$40.

For local attendees, the meeting at Yahoo is on the left side of First Avenue (coming from the Sheraton). Parking is in front of the building, check in with the gaurd who will have attendee names for the Colloquium. If you have any problems you can call Yahoo 408-349-7117 or Mark at 732-812-8890.
